WHAT IS TIME
Our bible study continues into the
interesting parts of the word of God that
are seldom, if ever, discussed in church gatherings. It is
important, however, if
we are to know where we are in time. This has much to do with the
proof that
prophecy is also truth. Before time there just was. God is
the I AM.
WHERE ARE WE IN TIME?
I. WHAT IS TIME?
A. IT’S BEGINNING
1. THE DAY
Gen 1:5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called
Night
Gen 1:5 The evening and the morning were the first day
(note: Evening starts the day.)
2.
LARGER TIME SPANS
Gen 1:14 God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of
the heaven
to
divide the day from the night; and let them
be for signs, and for
seasons, and for days, and years”.
3. TIME IT’S SELF
II Pe 3:8 Beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one
day is with the
Lord as a thousand years, and a
thousand years as one day.
(note: This is shown in more detail later.)
II. WHAT IS IT’S
PURPOSE?
1. To have beginnings and
endings
Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon Israel to
finish he
transgression, and to make an end of sins,
and to make reconciliation.
(note: Before time, there was God. He is
the alpha and omega, the
first and
the last,
the beginning and the ending, the I AM. There was eternity
past
and eternity future, which
are now split by this thing we call time.
There
was no death or endings. There could be no end to sin, because there
could
be no death of the savior. If Christ hadn’t died for us, we could never
have
been with God; and without time, he couldn’t
have died.)
2. To reveal, through
prophesy, where we are in time
Daniel chapter 2 reveals world governments through time.
(note: Through prophesies like this and
others, God reveals himself to us;
in that
no man
could know the future. If all things spoken by the Lord
come
to pass, then we know that He has set it up and that the warnings will come
to pass also. By
this knowledge, we
can see where we are in time.)
3. To set some type of order
(Without time, there are no limits, and all things
just continue.
There is
no order.
The more we begin to understand the universe; the make
up of
the
cell structure, genetics, the heavenly bodies, etc., the more it
becomes
evident
how God is a God of order. All things are made to a
mathematical
perfection,
including orbits, progressions, procreation, etc.)
4.
To have a type and shadow of good and evil
(The light overcomes the darkness. The
darkness cannot
overcome light.
The evil is hidden in darkness. The light reveals evil.)
III. HOW WAS IT
ORDAINED?
A. THE WORKWEEK
1. MAN’S (GOD INSTIGATED IT IN EXODUS CHAP. 20)
Ex 20:9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work
Ex 20:10 The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God:
in it
thou shalt not do any work
2. GOD’S
a. IN CREATION
Ex 2:11 In six days the Lord made heaven and
earth, the sea and all
that in them is, and rested
the seventh day
b. IN FINISHING HIS WORK
II Pe 3:8 A day with the lord is as a thousand
years.
1. Scripture shows us, through generations in
Genesis, that Adam
and Eve lived approximately
six thousand years ago.
2. The thousand year reign of Christ is the day of
rest
3. On the fourth day of creation, God created a
greater light and a
lesser light.
a. Christ came into the world on the four
thousandth year.
b. We are the light of the world.
(The lesser lights)
IV. IT’S
SIGNIFICANCE
A. PROPHECY
1. MOSES (A PICTURE OF CHRIST)
Ex 19:10 The Lord said unto Moses go unto the people,
and sanctify them
today and tomorrow, and let them
wash their clothes
Ex 19:11 and be ready against the third day for the third
day the Lord will
come down in the sight of all the
people upon mount Sinai
(note: If we compare this scripture to Christ,
the messiah, we see that
he
came the
fourth day, cleansed the people for two thousand years, and
will
come down the
third day,
or six thousandth year, in the sight of all men.
We are to wash our clothes
and be ready at,
or against, the three thousandth
day.)
Rev 19:7 The lamb’s wife hath made herself ready.
Rev 19:8 She was granted that she should be arrayed
if fine linen, which
is
the righteousness of saints.
The lamb is the bridegroom.
Rev 7:9&14 Some, like the five out of ten virgins,
have to go through
the
great tribulation and wash
their robes. God doesn’t give dirty robes
of
righteousness.
2. OTHER PROPHESIES OF THE LAST DAYS
Dan 7:23 It is now possible to have a one world
government
II Thes 2:3 There is a great falling away, apostasy.
Jer 42:12 Israel is a nation again
Dan 12:4 Knowledge is being greatly increased.
Mt 24:7 There are earthquakes as a woman travailing
in birth.
(Coming more frequent and with greater strength.)
(Rome, Europe,
is taking over the world economic system through the
common market, though not by force, it is the world’s desire.)
Mt 24:9 Israel, as well as the Christians, are being hated
for the
lord’s name’s sake.
Mt 24:5 The largest group of deceivers today are in the
church. They come
in his name and deceive many.
(For their benefit, I must say that I believe most
of them don’s know that
they are.)
(note: These are like the prophets of old, who
were false prophets.
They
say
peace,
peace, God will keep you; when, in truth, God is about to
drop the hammer.)
Mt 24:37 It will be like the days of Noah
Gen 6:5 Wickedness of man is great in the earth
and every
imagination of the thoughts of the heart
are only evil continually.
(note: This is in God’s perspective, however, not man’s.)
Gen 6:7 God says that he will destroy man and beast off
the earth.
Lk 17:28 It will be like the days of Lot
II Pe 2:6-7 God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah as
an example
(note: The homosexuality today is no better
than then.)
Gen 19:1-11 Homosexuality and violence is rampant
Gen 19:31-32 Sexuality and promiscuity is the manner
of the world
B. EXAMPLES
1. THE PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE
Mt 24:32 When it’s branch is yet tender and putteth forth
leaves, ye
know that summer is nigh
MT 24:33 So likewise, when ye see all these things coming
to pass, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Mt 24:34 This generation shall not pass till all these things
be
fulfilled

THE FIG (FRUIT)
Jer 24: Israel is gathered
:1 Good figs scattered for their own good
:2 Bad figs scattered to destroy
:3 Good figs gathered again
:4 Bad will come too
:5 Good are planted and not plucked up again
(though they are warned to leave again to avoid
wrath)
:6 I will give them a heart to know me (says God)
C. THE SEASON
1. INFORMATION
Former Rain: means sprinkling or autumnal showers
from
a root word meaning: to flow as water, to shoot an
arrow, to
point out by pointing the finger, or to teach
Jer 5:24 Israel doesn’t say, let us now fear the lord that giveth
rain, both the
former and the latter, in his season: he
reserveth unto us the
appointed weeks of the harvest.
Hos 6:3 The lord shall come unto us as the rain, the latter and
the former rain upon the earth
Latter Rain: means spring rain
from a root word meaning: to
gather, or the after crop
Deu 11:14 I will give you the rain of your land in HIS due
season, the first
rain and the latter
rain
Pro 16:15-16 In the light of the king’s countenance is life;
and
his favor is
as a cloud of the latter rain. How
much better is it to get wisdom
than gold; and to get
understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
Jer 3:3 The showers have been withholden, and there hath
been no latter
rain; and thou hast a whore’s
forehead, thou refuseth to be ashamed.
Joel 2:23 The lord hath given you the former rain
moderately, and he
will
cause to come down for you
the rain, the former and the latter in the
first month
Zech 10:1 Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the
latter rain

3. THE RAIN IN THE SPIRITUAL
Pr 1:23 The lord will pour out his spirit and he will

his word to them (Israel)
Is 44:3 The lord will pour his spirit upon the seed
of Jacob and Israel
Acts 2:17 It shall come to pass in the last days, that
I will pour out of my
Spirit upon all flesh, and your
sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your
young men shall see visions, and your old men
shall
dream dreams
Mt 24:32 When the fig tree’s branch (Israel) is yet
tender and putteth
forth
leaves, ye know that
Summer is nigh
Jer 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended,
and we are not saved
HYPOTHETICALLY
The
latter rain falls on the apostles
The Spirit is poured out on all flesh
(only the willing receive)
Summer is nigh
A small measure of Barley (Israel) is harvested
The Wheat is harvested (the church)
Summer comes, the big harvest of gentiles
Israel is not saved
Things get very hot and dry
The former rain falls, they see
The latter rain falls because they return to the lord
Israel is saved
V.
SO WHERE ARE WE IN TIME?
We are at the doors of the Great Tribulation. One had better not be
trusting their
pastor for their eternal destiny; the scripture says some will
be
deceiving in the last days.
They may not even know it. Many
will stand
before
the Lord saying that they did so much
for him; but, he will
tell them to
depart,
because he never knew them. Where do you stand?
Only God’s
opinion matters.
If your thoughts don’t line up with
scripture, then they are
only your opinion and
count for nothing. Get
into the word and know where
you stand for sure. Israel is in the land again. They will be scattered again,
but they are
there
again just
the same. This has started the clock of end time.
It shows the approach
of summer and one does not want to go through the last
summer of this earth. It’s going to get VERY HOT.
VI.
INDICATIONS
Israel is back in the land like prophesied.
Knowledge is increasing. (at an exponential rate)
It is now possible for a one world government, and it is sought for.
Europe, the new Rome, is seeking world dominion, through a monetary
system.
There are quakes and weather patterns with increasing intensity, and
frequency.
There is a falling away from seeking God’s will, to a politically correct
belief
that God’s desire lines up with man’s, IT DOESN’T.
The understanding of scripture is coming as spoken.
Man is basically worshiping a god of forces, the military, rather than
trusting God.
The greatest indication of all is that the entire TRUE Christian nation is
looking up for
their savior’s return, knowing that it is close; rather
than a few crackpots
speaking
their opinion, who have caused many
to fall away.
(The list goes on and on but you need to seek the scriptures to find
out for
yourself.)
Head
knowledge of the scriptures is good, but the scribes, Pharisees, and even
Satan have
that. What is essential
is the obedience to it and the seeking of God
for a relationship.
This does, however, depend on
knowledge of the word.
