LIVING AS A SON OF GOD
THE WALK
If one isn't living as a son, being
led by the spirit of God, then he isn't a
son.
God says it in his word. Jesus even confirms it with his words.
It isn't what we do, but why we do it. If one doesn't feel close enough
to do
things for
the right reasons, then the bible is where one needs to be.
A BELIEVERS WALK
A. As Light
I Jn 1:7 If we walk in the
light as Christ is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another
(and with God – vs. 3) and the blood cleanses
us
from all sin
Lk 11:34 an evil eye even only
part time has a body full of darkness
Lk 11:36 if thy whole body is
full of light, no part dark, the whole shall
be full of light
I Jn 1:5 God is light and in
him is no darkness at all
I Jn 1:6 If we walk in darkness
we have no fellowship with him then
we lie and do not the truth
Jn 3:19-20 this is the
condemnation, light has come into the world but
men loved the darkness
rather than the light because their deeds
were evil and the light reproved their
darkness and their deeds
(Note: Claiming salvation doesn’t make it so. God/Christ is
obligated to his word,
not to men. He is not our servant, we are
his)
B. As A Disciple
Is 8:16 Seal
(stop, close up, make an end) the law among
my
disciples
Jn 8:31 If ye continue in my
word, then are ye my disciples
Lk 22:11 Jesus eats the
Passover with his disciples
Lk 9:16 Jesus supplied, and the
disciples fed the multitudes
Jn 15:8 that ye bare much
fruit, so shall ye be my disciples
Mt 13:10 Jesus expounds on
parables only to his disciples
Lk 14:26 If one comes to me and
hates not his father, mother, wife,
children,
brothers, sisters and
even his own life, he cannot be my
disciple
Lk 14:33 one who forsakes not
all that he has, cannot be my disciple
Lk 18:28 Peter said, "Lo, we
have forsaken all"
Mt 11:1 Jesus only commanded
disciples to go and do
(Note: This means don’t long after worldly things,
or be unwilling to
let them go, they will pass, but the word/Christ is forever.)
C. As A Servant (Ye Cannot Serve God And Mammon)
Rom 6:22 Being made free from
sin, and become servants of God
Rom 12:1 present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, which is your
reasonable sacrifice
Mt 25:14
a man delivers his goods to his servants according to their
ability and
takes a trip
Mt 25:19 the lord returns and
reckons with his servants
Mt 25:20 most double
what they received
Mt 25:34 they are invited into
the kingdom because
Mt 25:35 they gave meat
to the brethren
gave drink to the brethren
took in strangers
clothed the naked
visited the sick
visited brethren in prison
Mt 25:37-39 and in humility,
don't remember doing so
D. As Christ's Body
I Cor 12:13 We are his body
I Cor 12:14 the body has many
members
I Cor 12:18 God set every
member in the body
I Cor 12:25 Members should care
for one another and grieve when
fellow members are hurting
Eph 4:15 Christ is the head
Eph 4:16 each part has his own
job to do
Col 1:18 Christ is the head of
the body, the church
Heb 13:3 remember them in
bonds, as bound with them; and them
that suffer
adversity, as being
yourself also part of the body
E. As A Virgin - Bride - Wife
Mt 9:15 Christ is the
bridegroom
Mt 25:6 some virgins aren't
brides, for their lamps go out
Rev 19:7 Christ's bride makes
herself ready
Rev 19:8 she is clothed in the
righteousness of saints
Eph 5:23 the husband (Christ)
is head of the bride (church)
1 Cor 7:10 let not the wife
depart from the husband, but be reconciled
if she does
1 Cor 7:15 let the unbeliever
depart
Lk 17:32 remember Lot's wife
1 Cor 6:9 be not deceived,
adulterers shall not inherit the kingdom
F. As A Son
Jn 1:12 receive Christ and
believe in his name to have power to become
sons (not there
yet)
Mt 18:3 become as little
children to enter the kingdom of heaven
1 Jn 2:29 one who does
righteousness is born of God
Rom 8:14 one who is lit by the
Holy Spirit is a son of God
II Cor 6:17 come out from among
them, be ye separate, touch not the
unclean thing, and then ye
shall be my sons
Jn 8:29 Christ did always
those things that pleased the father
G. A War
1. Casualties
Hos 4:6 My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge
2. The Battle
Pr 2:5 finding knowledge
Pr 9:10 knowledge of the holy is understanding
Pr 1:7 fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge
Pr 9:10 fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom
Mt 10:28 fear him who is able to destroy both body and soul
Pr 9:10 knowledge of the world is death
Pr 2:6 out of the mouth of God comes knowledge and
understanding
(Note: Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that
proceeds out of the mouth
of God)
3. Tactics
Pr 2:3 Cry
after knowledge
lift up thy
voice for understanding
Pr 2:1 receive His words
Pr 2:2 incline thine ear to wisdom
Mt 11:15 he with ears to hear, let him hear
Pr 2:1 hide his commandments with thee
Pr 2:2 apply thine heart to understanding
Ja 1:22 be a doer of the word and not a hearer only, deceiving
yourselves
Mt 12:34 out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth (tongue)
speaks
4. Result- Overcoming (See
overcoming)
Pr 2:15 then one understands the fear of the lord and finds
knowledge
Ja 4:17 we know to do evil but know not to do good
Pr 2:6 then is wisdom given when one seeks the word of God's
mouth
Pr 14:16 a wise man feareth God and departs from evil, but the
fool rages on
in his
confidence
(
Note: Jesus said that he was the word, the way, the bread, the
truth, the
life, the light, and the I
AM.
If one is in Christ then he
must be in the word, the way, the bread, the
truth, the life, the
light,
and the I AM.)
