GOD'S FEASTS IN THE LAW
REVEAL THE CHURCH
God is so perfect in his every
endeavor. He planned the entire law before he started creation. See
how beautifully our Lord put it all together. As I have said elsewhere in
this study, for a better understanding of truth one must know something about Israel,
their customs, and their law. It is a picture of the church so it sheds
much light on the subject. Jesus fulfilled the law, and each of these
feasts, Jesus fulfilled of the very day of the feast. The first three
feasts were accomplished at the
cross. Pentecost is where we are now in the process, and the last three
seem to be accomplished
together like the first three.
The feasts are separated into Spring feasts and fall feasts.
Jeremiah 8:20 says "the harvest is
over, Summer is past and we are not saved. This directly identifies the
feasts and the salvation
that is in the Lord. It speaks of Israel and their not being saved at the
time the church is caught
up unto the Lord/the Rapture. God's attention then turns back to Israel
for a seven year tribulation
which is the seventieth week of the seventy God said he would use to deal with
Israel Dan 9:24.
The first four are the spring feasts and the last three are the fall feasts.
The tribulation period is in
the fall and Jesus says pray that your flight be not in the winter Mt 24:20.
Lev 23:2-4 The Lord's Feasts
Their counterpart in Christianity
1. Lev 23:5 Passover (14th day, 1st month)
THE CRUCIFIXION-------SALVATION
(Jesus, our
high priest Heb 3:1 & 5:1, selected the lamb from the father's house Heb 10:5
himself, killed it Jn 10:18 and
became the Passover lamb 1Cor 5:7)
2. Lev 23:6 Unleavened bread (15th day)
THE BURIAL---------------BAPTISM
(Jesus is
the bread Jn 6:32-35 and unleavened because he was sinless and one must eat of
this bread for eternal life Jn 6:51)
3. Lev 23:10 Firstfruits (16th day)
RESURRECTION----------REBIRTH
(Jesus was
the firstfruit 1Cor 15:20 because He was the first to be raised after being
planted
1Cor 15:42. This feast happened
on the third day just like Jesus' resurrection. This was
the barley harvest time. The
Hebrews might be the barley.)
4. Lev 23:16 Feast of weeks (50 days after firstfruit)
PENTECOST----------HOLY SPIRIT
This feast was at the time of the
wheat harvest but was not waved like the barley. Here the
priest, which we are, waves two
loaves of leavened bread. This represents the Jews and
gentiles as sin in them. It is
the wheat harvest and the church is the wheat, though the church
is made up of Jew and gentile.
In Israel there is an early rain and a latter rain which prepares
the fruit for harvest. The rain
represents the Holy Spirit and He came on this feast and He
will be, Acts 2:17, poured out upon
all flesh in the last days. see Prophecy>What
is Time
There was a goat offered for sin and
a couple of lambs for peace Lev 23:19.
see
True Salvation)
5. Lev 23:24 Trumpets (1st day, 7th month)
NEW YEAR----------------RAPTURE
This represents the rapture of the
church. It is the new moon which entails the blowing
of trumpets. At the other new
moons, it was silver trumpets that were sounded. At
this feast, however, it is a shofar
(ram's horn) that is blown.
6. Lev 23:27 Atonement (10th day, 7th month) JUDGMENT----------------RIGHTEOUS
Christ is
our atonement. He was the goat sacrificed at this feast.
7. Lev 23:34 Tabernacles (15th day, 7th month)
GATHERING---------------MILLENNIUM
I have shown in some small way the importance of knowing
the ways of our Lord concerning
Israel and the direct connection to the church as the result of Christ's
fulfilling of The Law. The following link gives a greater look at the
"FEASTS OF THE LORD".
