FROM THE CROSS TO ETERNAL SALVATION
Who does Jesus give eternal life? Only those who
the Father gives to Him. Who are they?
PREPARING US
TO GIVE TO HIS SON
I have placed some words in the verses below that
are meanings for the previous word.
Col 1:12
Giving thanks unto
the Father, which hath made us meet (able) to be partakers
of the inheritance
Jn 6:45 they shall be
all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath
learned of
the Father,
cometh unto me.
COMING
ISN'T ENOUGH
THE OBEDIENT
Lk 6:47 Those who come, hear and obey
are on the solid foundation
THE DISOBEDIENT
Lk 6:49 Those who come and hear but
don't obey fall because they are not on the foundation
WHO DOES THE FATHER GIVE
TO JESUS?
THOSE THAT COME
Jn 6:37
All that the
Father giveth me shall come to me; and
him that cometh to me I will in
no wise cast out
Jn 6:39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me,
that of all which
he hath given me
I should lose
nothing,
but should raise it up again at the last day
Jn 10:28 I give unto
my sheep eternal life; and they shall
never perish, neither shall
any
man
pluck them out of my hand
Jn 10:29
My Father,
which gave my sheep to me, is greater than all; and
no
man
is able
to pluck
them
out of my Father’s hand.
Each of these verses applies only to
those who are given to Jesus by the Father, noted by the highlight
. So just who does the Father
give to him?
Jn 6:44
No
man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him
Jn 6:45 And they shall be all taught of
God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath
learned of the Father, cometh unto me
Jn 6:65 that no man can come unto me,
except it were given unto him of my Father
Col 1:12 Giving
thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance
Jn 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and
drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise
him up at the last day.
Jn 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth
nothing: the words that I speak
unto you,
they are spirit, and
they are life
1Cor 10:3-5 And did all eat the same
spiritual meat;
And
did all drink the same spiritual
drink: for they drank of that
spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was
Christ.
But
with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in
the wilderness.
CHILDREN
Heb 2:13 Behold I and the children which God
hath given me.
SHEEP
Jn 10:27-29
My sheep hear my
voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them
eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck
them out of my hand.
My
Father, which gave them me
One does not belong
to Jesus until the Father gives them to Him, but it is seen that there are three qualifications for the Father giving
them to Jesus.
Jn 10:27
My sheep
hear my voice, and
I know them, and
they follow me
MEN
Jn 17:6
I have manifested thy
name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and
thou gavest them me
The Father gives
men to Jesus in this scripture. They also seem to have qualifications.
Jn 17:6 they have kept thy word.
Jn 17:7
Now they have known
that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee
Jn 17:8 I have given unto them the words which
thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I
came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me
Jn 17:16
They are not of the
world, even as I am not of the world
They have received
the word of the Father, they have kept the word of the Father, and they are not
of the world like Jesus is not of the world. This means that they do not live
after the lusts of the flesh, as seen next. This is not to say that one cannot
fail at times or that one cannot enjoy the things of the world that God gives
them, it is just that their priorities are in proper order.
Gal 3:29 if ye be Christ’s, then are ye
Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to
the promise
Gal 5:24
And
they that are Christ’s have crucified
the flesh with the affections
and lusts
THE END OF
THE WAY
Heb 5:8-9
Though he were a Son,
yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
And being made
perfect, he became the author of eternal
salvation unto all them that obey him;
Most people can’t
grasp the importance of obedience. Here is why it is so important. When one
has everything and wants for nothing, why would one not obey? Jesus had always
obeyed the Father, but he never had anything to lose. When there are
consequences for obedience, then the obedience means something. Jesus learned
obedience because it would cost him pain, suffering, and death. He didn’t look
at the cost of obedience, but at the gain for it. He wasn’t shaken by the
trials and tribulations. When the Spirit came upon him, he was led immediately
into temptations in the wilderness. He also overcame them. Now that Jesus
understands obedience and its consequences, he is the author, meaning causer, of
eternal salvation to all who obey him. It seems that it is not the obedience
that is so important, but the faith and the relationship we have with him to
stand in that obedience.
2Tim 2:11-13 For if we be dead with him,
we shall also live with him:
If we suffer, we
shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
If we believe not,
yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
It is himself that
he can’t deny, not man. The verse said that he can and will deny man. He is
the word and he cannot deny the word or his Father, because he and the Father
are one. He cannot go against his word even if he wanted to because he cannot
lie.
