THE CHRISTIAN LIFESPAN
BIRTH TO DEATH  (ETERNAL LIFE)

In this section of this bible study I endeavor to show how a Christian's
life resembles the life of Jesus Christ.  The life from birth to death (physically) as
well as growth will be shown through bible verses.  The scripture, the word
of God, is the only source one should take for truth.

NEW TESTAMENT LIFE

I. An Example In The Life Of Christ
    A.  A Babe

Lk 1:35 The Holy Spirit came upon Mary and a holy thing was born
                    by the power of God.
    B. A Child
Lk 2:42 Jesus is 12 years old.
Lk 2:46 Jesus is in the temple asking, listening and all that heard
him were amazed at his understanding and wisdom.
Lk 2:51-52 Jesus served his parents and grew in wisdom and
stature and favor of God and man.
Lk 3:16 Man baptizes with water but Jesus baptized with the Holy
                        Spirit and fire.
(Note:  Baptism with water is only an outward sign to others and an act
of response.  The true baptism of water is the washing of water by the word.)

    C. A Son
Lk 3:21-23 Jesus is baptized at 30 years of age and the Holy Spirit
comes upon him in the form of a dove.
Now God calls him His son.
Lk 4:1 Jesus returns full of the Holy Spirit from the Jordan.
Lk 4:1 The Holy Spirit leads Jesus into the wilderness
Mt 4:1 The Holy Spirit leads Jesus into temptation in the wilderness.
(Note: God led Israel to bitter waters when leaving Egypt and the
branch (Jesus) made the water sweet.)

Lk 4:2 Jesus fasted 40 days.
                        Jesus was hungry.
Lk 4:4-12 The devil tries 3 more times to tempt Jesus but Jesus
overcomes him by speaking scripture at him and he leaves.
(Note:  1 Jn 2:16 All that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust
of the eyes, and the pride of life. These were the last 3 temptations.)

Lk 4:13 The devil departed for a season.
Mt 4:11 When the devil left, angels ministered unto Jesus.
    D. A Man
Lk 4:14 Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit.
Mt 4:17 Jesus began from that time to preach and to say repent, for
the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Lk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed
me to Preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal
the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and
recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are
                        bruised.
Mt 4:19 Follow me and I will make you fishers of men

(Note: Jesus didn’t say I might, he said I will. If you’re not fishers of
men, check yourself to see if you are following; or are you watching
from a distance.   He was full of the Holy Spirit after baptism, but after
passing temptation he walked in the power of the Holy Spirit.)

II. NT Life In Christ - Growing Up

Titus 3:5 The Father saved us by washing of regeneration and the
                    renewing of the  Holy Spirit
(Note: Washing means bath, complete wetness, not in part; regeneration
means rebirth; renewing means complete renovation)

Jn 3:5   Except a man be born of water and spirit he cannot enter the
                    Kingdom of God
Ja 1:18 He begat us with the word of truth
I Thes 1:5 Our gospel came not in word only, but in power and in the
                    Holy Ghost
    A.  A Babe
Heb 5:13 Everyone that uses milk is unskilled in the word of
righteousness,  he is a babe in Christ
Heb 5:12-6:2 The milk is the first principles of the oracles of God
                        which are:
                    1. The foundation of repentance from dead works
                    2. Faith towards God
                    3. The doctrine of baptisms - Mt 3:11
                        a. Water unto repentance by man
                        b. The Holy Spirit by Christ
                        c. Fire by Christ
                    4. The laying on of hands
                    5. The resurrection of the dead
                    6. Eternal Judgment
I Cor 3:2 I have fed you milk and not strong meat, you couldn't handle it
I Cor 3:1 I couldn't speak unto you as spiritual, but as unto carnal, babes
Heb 5:11 We have many things to say of Christ, and hard to be uttered,
seeing  that ye are dull of hearing
Heb 5:12 For when ye aught to be teachers, ye have need that one teach
you again, the first principles (milk)
Heb 6:4-5 It is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have
tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy
Spirit, and  have tasted the good word of God, and the powers
of the world to come:  if they should fall away, to renew them
                        again unto repentance
Heb 6:1 Therefore, leaving the milk, let us go on unto perfection
    B. A Child
I Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you, he that does
righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous

(by doing righteousness)
Gal 6:7 Whatsoever a man soweth, so shall he reap
Gal 6:8 Sow to the flesh, reap corruption, sow to the spirit, reap
                        everlasting life
Rom 6:17 God be thanked that ye were the servant to sin, but ye
have obeyed  from the heart that form of doctrine which
                        was delivered to you
Rom 6:16 To whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servant ye are, whether of sin unto death or obedience to
                    righteousness
Rom 6:18 Being made free from sin ye became the servants of
                        righteousness
            Rom 6:19 unto holiness
Rom 6:22 Now being made free from sin and become servants
to God, ye have fruit unto holiness
I Cor 2:12 Now we have received the spirit of God that we might
know the things that are freely given us of God
I Cor 2:13 Which things we speak, which the Holy Spirit teaches
                        comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
I Cor 6:14 The natural man (flesh, carnal) receiveth not the things
of the spirit of God for they are spiritually discerned.
I Cor 6:9-10 The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of
God.  Be not  deceived:  fornicators,  idolaters, adulterers,
effeminate, abusers of themselves with mankind, thieves,
covetous, drunkards, revilers, and extortionist, shall not
                        inherit the kingdom of God.
I Cor 6:11 And such were some of you, but ye are washed,
sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and
by the spirit of our God.
Eph 5:26 Christ cleanses his church by the washing of water by
                        the word
Jn 15:3 Ye are clean by the word which Christ has spoken to you
Gal 4:1 As long as the heir is a child, he is no different than a servant
Gal 4:2 He is under governors and tutors until the time appointed of
                        the Father
Eph 4:11 He gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists,
some pastors, and some teachers: for the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, and for edifying of the
                        body of Christ.
Eph 4:14 That ye be no more children, tossed to and fro, and
carried about by every wind of doctrine, by men who lie
                        in wait to deceive
II Cor 6:17 Come out from among them, be ye separate, saith the
Lord and touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you
II Cor 6:18 and will be a father to you and ye shall be my sons
II Cor 7:1 Having these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear
                        of God
Heb 12:14 Follow peace and holiness, without which no man shall
                        see the Lord
I Jn 2:28 Now little children abide in him; that we may be confident
and not ashamed at his coming
I Jn 2:27 The anointing that you have received of him abides in you
and you need not that a man teach you. As the anointing
teaches you all things and it’s truth and is no lie; even as it
has taught you, ye  abide in him
Eph 5:1-2 Be ye followers of God and walk in love
    C. A Son
I Pe 1:14 as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according
to the former lusts in your ignorance
Heb 12:5 Children despise not the chastening of the Lord,
Heb 12:6 nor faint when thou art rebuked. Whom the Lord chastens,
He loves; and scourges every  son whom he receives
Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God deals with you as sons
I Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin
I Cor 15:50 Corruption does not inherit incorruption
Rom 8:14 As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the
                        sons of God
(He doesn’t push or pull in leading, it is by your choice)
Rom 8:17 If children, then heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,
if we suffer with him (persecution not chastening)
Heb 5:8 Christ learned obedience through suffering
(Note: Without suffering there is no desire to be disobedient. We
learn  what obedience is, in the midst of adversity, though we knew
how to obey  without it.  One can only be obedient if there is a
choice that would seem  benefit one more through disobedience.)

Heb 2:10 It became Him (the Father) in bringing many sons unto
glory,  to make the captain of their salvation perfect through
                    suffering.
Jn 1:7   If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship
one with another, and the blood of his son Jesus Christ cleanses
                    us from all sin
Jn 1:9   If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
Phil 2:14-15 Do all things without murmurings and disputings that ye
may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God without rebuke,
in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom
                    ye shine as lights.
    D. Men
I Jn 2:13 I write unto you young men because ye have overcome the
                    wicked one
I Jn 2:14 I write unto you young men because ye are strong and the
word of God abideth in you and you have overcome the
                    wicked one
I Ki 17:24 The word of God, in the mouth of a man of God,
                    is truth
I Tim 5:1 Rebuke not an elder but entreat him as a father
I Tim 5:2 Entreat elder women as mothers
I Pe 5:5 Ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder and all of you
be subject one to another in humility
Pe 5:6 Humble yourselves under the hand of God that he may exalt
                    you in due time
Ja 5:16 Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that
                    ye may  be healed
    E. Elder
Heb 5:14 Strong meat belongs to them of full age

(complete in character)
Heb 5:14 Full age are them who by reason of use, have their senses
exercised to discern both good and evil
Ja 5:16 The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
                         (to prevail and  remove) much
Heb 11:1-2Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen, and by it the elders obtain a good report
(Note: The good report is answered prayer)
Ja 5:14 Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the
church and  let them pray over him and anoint him with oil in
                    the name of the Lord.
Ja 5:15 The prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall
raise him up. If he hath committed sins, they shall be forgiven
                    him.
I Pe 5:13 I exhort the elders to feed the flock among you, not by
                    constraint but example

III. Being Born Into The Family

(Note: One goes through a process of gaining sight, hearing, and
then life  itself.  It all depends upon one's attitude, not what one does or
does  not do.  It is in  the spirit, not in the physical acts. As in the physical,
many babes and children  die after being born into the family.)

    A. Physical – Carnal (deaf, dumb, and blind in the spirit –
                spiritually dead)
Jn 3:6 That which is born of flesh is flesh
Rom 3:23 All have sinned and come short of the glory of God
I Cor 15:50 Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God,
                        corruption cannot inherit incorruption
Lk 17:20 The kingdom of God cometh not with observation, it is
                        within you
Jn 4:24 God is spirit and must be worshipped in spirit and truth
Jn 3:6 That which is born of spirit is spirit
Jn 3:3 Except a man be born again, he cannot SEE the kingdom of God
Lk 4:18 Christ was sent for recovering of sight to the blind
Lk 4:18 Christ was sent to preach the gospel to the poor (in spirit)

Mk 1:15 The kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe the gospel

(Can’t  see yet)
Jn 3:18 He that believes is not condemned but he that believes not is
                     condemned already (Believers gain sight)

Rom 3:20 By the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in HIS sight
                        (Only in their own sight)

Rom 3:9-11 They are all under sin, as it is written, there is none righteous
no not one. There is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12 there is none that doeth good, no not one
Ja 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in one
point, he is guilty of all
Rom 1:16 The gospel is the power of God unto salvation
Mt 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom
I Cor 4:20 The kingdom of God is not in word only, but in power
I Cor 6:9 The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God
(Whether they see or not, nor whether they have been covered of past
         sins or not)

Jn 14:6 No man cometh unto the Father but by me
Jn 6:44 No man can come to me except the Father draw him
Jn 12:32 If I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me
Jn 12:33 This signified what death he should die
                (Note:  this is twofold –
                        1. Lifted up on the tree like the serpent in the wilderness by
                            Moses
                        2. His physical death but raised in the spirit)

    B. Spiritual Birth (hear, and see – receive life)

Rom 3:21 But now the righteousness of God, without the law, is
                    manifested
Rom 3:22 The righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus
Christ,  is unto all (available to the whole world) but upon
them that believe  (and are not  ashamed)

Rom 3:24 Justified (to render innocent) freely by his grace
through redemption (ransom paid) in Christ
whom God set forth (Jn 3:16 God gave His only begotten
Son)  Through faith in His blood (not through His blood)

to declare HIS righteousness (equity of character)

for the remission (toleration) of past sins
Through the forbearance of God (tolerance, self restraint)

Rom 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time HIS righteousness (not ours)
that  he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth
                        in Jesus
(Note: The Greek word for remission, used here, appears nowhere else
in the  New Testament. Here it means toleration, but everywhere else it
means pardon  or  freedom.  The word used here comes from another
word meaning to relax,  to let by. Our sins are not erased or forgiven at
this point, they are covered.  This is due to God's  righteousness, justness,
because he knew we were not able to pay the price necessary.  Through
His mercy and HIS righteousness (justness) he paid the price for us and
granted us access to pardon as the goat (scapegoat). The blood of the
lamb for  forgiveness and pardon is on the house of those who are in the
house eating the bread  and the lamb. Then the blood washes away our sin.
Here we are not clean, but just  treated as clean.

    C. Spiritual – Carnal (see, hear, yet dumb – confess not lordship
                    of Christ – Spiritual death)
Lk 6:49 He that cometh to me and heareth my words and doeth them
not  is like a man who built his house upon the earth (the world).
It immediately fell and it's ruin was great.
Mt 24:5  Many shall come in my name saying I am Christ and shall
                       deceive many
Act 20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise speaking perverse
things  (to distort, misinterpret, or corrupt) to draw away
                        disciples after themselves
Mt 15:8 This people draw nigh to me with their mouth, and honoreth
me with their lips, but their heart is far from me
Mt 15:9 In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrine the
                        commandments of men (religion)
Lk 8:13 Some, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but have
no  root. They believe for a while but in time of temptation,
                        fall away.
Ja 1:14 When he is drawn away of his own lusts and enticed
Ja 1:15 When lust conceives it brings forth sin and sin, when it is
finished, brings forth death (one must have been alive to die)

II Thes 1:8 Christ will return in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them
that obey not the gospel (first believe then do/obey)
Ja 4:8 Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you
Heb 10:22 Draw nigh with a true heart having your heart sprinkled
                        and a body washed
II Cor 7:1 Let us cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of the flesh
I Cor 6:18 Flee fornication. He that commits fornication, sins against
                        his own body.
Rom 10:9 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation
Rom 10:9 If thou shalt confess with thy mouth (speak aloud) the
Lord  (master)  Jesus and believe in thine heart that God
bath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved
Rom 10:11 Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed
(Note: If one is ashamed of talking about Christ then they are not true
believers;  the knowledge remains in the mind (soul) and isn't in the
heart (spirit). Being able to talk about God isn't enough, it has to be
Christ to be a true believer.)

Eph 1:13 In whom ye trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the
                    gospel of your salvation
Eph 1:13 In whom also, after that ye believed, ye were sealed with
that Holy Spirit of promise (note: sealed when not ashamed)

Rom 8:14 As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are sons of
                    God
Lk 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me and heareth my sayings and
doeth them is like a man who built his house on a rock and
                        it could not be shaken
    D. Spiritual (sees, hears, speaks, and does – alive, risen)

Ja 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation. When he is tried
he shall receive the crown of life.
Ja 1:25 He, being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work

(Christ's work and his words) shall be blessed in his deed
