SALVATION'S FIRST HALF
COMMON SALVATION – THE PASSOVER
Common Salvation is not eternal.
It is the status where one can have the Holy Spirit as a teacher to learn how to
receive eternal salvation. It gives one access to the Father who then
gives one to Jesus if they are willing to come and seek.
1. RECEIVED AT THE CROSS
1Cor 1:18
For
the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God
2. ACCOMPLISHED BY THE LAMB
Jn 1:29 John seeth Jesus coming unto him,
and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away
the sin of the world
What is the sin of the world?
Isn't it the one passed down from Adam? If it was speaking of all sin,
would it say sins? If it was speaking of all sin as a subject, wouldn't
the whole world be saved? How could all sin and sins be taken away from
the world without the whole world being saved?
1Pe1:18-19 redeemed with the precious
blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
3. RECONCILES US AND GIVES US ACCESS
Eph 2:16
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body
by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby
Eph 2:18
For
through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father
Col 1:20
And, having made peace through the blood of his
cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him
4. FREE GIFT REQUIRING NO ACTION
Rom 3:24
Being justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus
Rom 5:18 by the righteousness of one
the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life
5. DONE FOR US WHILE ENEMIES OF GOD
Rom 5:8
But
God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us
Rom 5:10 when we were enemies, we were
reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall
be saved by his life
6. RECEIVED WHEN WE PUT FAITH IN JESUS
Jn 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he
that believeth not is condemned already,
7. GETS US INTO THE HOUSE
Eph 2:18-19
For
through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19
Now
therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the
saints, and of the household of God;
8. GETS US TO THE STARTING POINT OF "THE
WAY"
Mt 7:13
Enter ye in at the strait
gate: for wide is the
gate, and broad is
the way, that leadeth to destruction
Mt 7:14 Because
strait is the gate,
and narrow is the
way, which leadeth unto life
Lk 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait
gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able
Lk 13:27
But
he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all
ye workers of
iniquity.
9. SAVES US FROM THE DEATH OF THE FIRSTBORN
Common Salvation
ACCORDING TO JUDE
Jude 1 to them that are sanctified by God the
Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called
It must be understood here that Jude is
speaking to those who believe, but have not attained the necessary level of
eternal life. They are called sanctified, but not saints, a word he uses two
verses later. They are preserved in Christ, but preserved here means to keep an
eye on and watch over, not to prevent from escape or to have a military fortress
around them which are two other words. They are called but not all the called
are chosen.
Jude 3 when I gave all diligence to
write unto you of the “Common Salvation”, it was needful for me to write
unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the
faith which was once delivered unto the saints
Jude 5 having saved the people out of the land of
Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not
Jude now warns these who have not yet
attained the mark to watch what they do and believe. It will cause them to be
destroyed by God. He then goes on to give credit to those who have earnestly
contended for the faith as spoken in verse 3.
Jude 20-21 But ye, beloved, building up
yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Keep yourselves in
the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal
life
These are seeking and they shall find
eternal salvation through the atonement of the goat sacrifice. It
happeneed along the way, though, not at the cross.
ACCORDING TO ROMANS
Rom 3:24-25 25 Being 1. justified freely by
his 2. grace through the 3. redemption that is in
Jesus Christ whom God has set forth as the 4. propitiation
through faith in his blood to declare
his 5. righteousness for the 6. remission of sins
that are past through the 7. forbearance of God.
This is the original scripture, but
look at the same scripture written with the meanings replacing the words in
bold.
Being (1. regarded as innocent) freely by his (2.
graciousness) through the (3. ransom paid in full) that is in
Jesus Christ whom God has set forth as the (4. atoning victim where atone
means to make amends) through faith in his blood to declare HIS (5.
equity of character), not ours, for the (6. toleration not removal)
of sins that are PAST through the
(7. self restraint or toleration) of God.
The sins that are past represent the sin nature and the death
handed down from Adam. It also appears to suggest that at this point
condemnation for our personal past sins is put on hold. They become tolerated just like
sins of children are forgiven until they reach an age where they know better.
At that point mistakes are forgiven, but bare consequences. The child
either changes their way or chooses to leave because they refuse to live under
the rules.
Rom 5:18
Therefore as by the offence
of one judgment came upon all men
to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life
Rom 3:22 Even the
righteousness of God [which is] by faith
of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that
believe: for there is no difference
We become servants, not sons
Rom 6:18
Being then made
free from sin, ye became the servants of
righteousness
Rom 6:22
But now being made
free from sin, and become servants to
God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the
end everlasting life
We have fruit if we
serve. If we don’t serve, then we are unprofitable servants and have no
fruit. Being free from sin means that it doesn't have dominion over us any
more Rom 6:14. Now one has a choice to serve sin unto death Rom 6:16 or
serve God through obedience to righteousness Rom 6:16. Gal 6:8 says that
if a man lives for the flesh he will reap corruption but if he sows to the
spirit, he will reap life eternal.
Gal 4:1 the
heir, as long as he is a
child, differeth nothing from a
servant
Jn 8:35 the servant abideth not in the house
for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
One progresses from a servant to a son
along the way.
Gal 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more
a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
This comes later, but I place this
verse here to give further understanding. This verse reveals that one
changes from a servant to a son even though the cross originally makes us free
from sin and servants.
At this point one has entered the house of God; but
as a servant or child, not a son. One has been MADE free from sin, not
recreated or reborn; yet Jesus said one must be born again and scripture also
says one becomes a new creature. These two events happen in the future if
one chooses to follow and seek. At that point one becomes eternally saved.
This is not to say that eternal salvation is based on anything but the price
Jesus paid. It remains a free gift, but one must be in the place where it
is given. One, as Jesus said, comes as a child. As a child one wants
to please the parent, one wants to learn from the parent, etc. One does
not earn his place in the family, it is his attitude and choice to be in it.
It is also this attitude that causes one to serve the family.
THE CHOICE
WALKING AWAY AND LOSING ETERNAL LIFE
Mt 7:13 Enter
ye in at the strait
gate: for wide is the
gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there
be which go in thereat
Jn 3:18 He
that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned
already
These two verses show that one can’t
enter the wide gate before entering the straight one because he is already
there. If one is already under condemnation, he can’t enter a gate to get
there. Wide means spread out flat. This would appear to reveal that there
really is no gate. I assure you that you do not have to be perfect, Jesus was
for you; but you do, however, have to keep trying to seek and find through the
study of scripture.
KEEPING THE FAITH AND FINDING ETERNAL LIFE
Mt 7:14 strait is the gate, and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it
This takes seeking because verse 7
tells us to seek and we shall find. Even after one has entered the gate, there
is a way that leads to life. It is life we find, not the gate or the way, and
we find it by entering the gate and following the way, by seeking. The word
‘way’ means road. It is a journey or highway, not a single act at a single
place. The cross is a door, not a road; and the way is after we enter the
gate. The way leads to life, it doesn’t lead to the door.
IN THE HOUSE BEFORE WE START ON "THE WAY"
Hear again we can see how
the old testament lines up with the new that Jesus fulfilled.
Ex 12:8 Eat the lamb:
Jn 6:55 Jesus’ flesh is meat
Jn 4:32 But he said unto them, I have meat
to eat that ye know not of.
Jn 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the
will of him that sent me, and
to finish his work.
Jn 6:27 Labor not for the meat
which perisheth, but for that meat
which endureth
unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you
Mt 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant,
whom his lord hath made ruler over
his household, to give them meat in due season?
Ex 12:8 Eat unleavened bread:
Jn 6:33 The bread of God is
Jesus
Jn 6:35 Jesus is the bread of life
Mt 26:26 Jesus body is the bread
Mt 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone but by every
word out of the mouth
of God, the meat.
Ex 12:8 & 9 The lamb’s meat must be roasted with fire, not boiled or
watered down:
Mt 3:11 We are baptized with
the Holy Ghost and with fire by Jesus
Mt 3:11 We are baptized with water by
man showing, Rom 6:1-4, that we are
baptized into his death and raised again in newness of life to not serve sin.
2Pe 3:6
A world of sin was cleansed by a flood of water but God promised never again with water
1Pe 1:7 Our faith is tried by
fire
Mk 9:49 Everyone shall be
salted with fire and every sacrifice with salt
Ex 12:11 People in the house must have
loins girded:
Eph 6:14 Our loins are to be
gird with truth
Ex 12:11 People must have shoes on their feet:
Eph 6:12 Our feet are to be
shod with the gospel of peace
Ex 12:11 People must have the staff in their hands:
Mk 6:8 Jesus sent out His disciples two by two with only
a staff
He had just given them power over unclean spirits.
The staff is a sign of
strength and our strength is faith in the lord and His word.
Rev 2:26-27 And he that
overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the
end, to him will I give power
over the nations:
And he shall rule them with a rod of iron
Rev 12:5 And she brought
forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her
child was caught up unto
God, and to his throne.
Ex 12:13 If the blood is on the house where one is, God will not
destroy them:
Heb 3:6 We are God’s house
and the blood of the lamb is on the door, Jesus
While in the house, one receives the things necessary to make
the trip to the Promised Land. We continue to be fed along ‘the way’, receiving
nourishment for the journey. Along the way there are trials and tribulations
for the purpose of shaking loose those things that can be. If one continues to feed on the
word and manna of God, no trial can shake us.
